In 1990 he graduated with first class honours from Preston Polytechnic (now The University of Central Lancashire). After graduating he worked in India and Australia for a year before returning to London to join the in-house design team at The Body Shop. In 1995 he joined Fitch before moving onto 20/20, both industry leaders in retail design, Julian worked extensively in the UK and Europe for variety of clients including Sainsbury’s. In 2001 he set up as an independent designer during which time his work has been widely published.

When he is not working, he can often be found running through the streets of London, playing cricket, cooking and spending time with his family and their dog Fletcher (named after another hero, the designer Alan Fletcher).
